该砂是选用特级菱镁石或特级轻烧镁粉为原料在电弧炉中高温熔融而成。方镁石发育完善、晶体大、直接结合率高、结构致密、抗渣性强、高温体积稳定优越。是生产镁碳砖、碱性砖和不定型耐火材料的优良原料，按MgO含量96-98%分等级。
